About the Office of the Vice President for International Affairs (IU Global)

The Vice President for International Affairs and the teams of staff in OVPIA's offices are the stewards of international activity across all campuses of Indiana University (IU). We provide strategic leadership and advocacy for all international programs and projects and coordinate the resources necessary to sustain their growth. Our goal is to enable as many students, faculty, and staff as possible to pursue international and intercultural knowledge and experiences and to become engaged global citizens. OVPIA provides leadership and support for IU's international efforts. Within IU Global, the Office of International Services (OIS) is dedicated to helping international students and scholars achieve their goals. Our staff recruit, admit, and enroll international students from all over the world. We provide social and cultural programming and visa- and immigration-related advising among other assistance to all international students and scholars.

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Responds to a broad range of inquiries from students regarding International Admissions.
  • Serves as a point of contact via phone and email inquiries on admissions process and status of applications for international applicants and other clients with requests for services and information related to international admissions and OIS procedures.
  • Affords assistance in scheduling meetings with admissions staff for international student applicants.
  • Might respond to requests for information; determines appropriateness of release of information under established university and federal policies; transmits information, if appropriate.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of international education systems.

Education and Experience

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).
  • Preferred: Some office-related experience in a university setting, experience handling complex customer service situations.

Pay and Schedule

Bloomington, Indiana Ferguson International Center $15.00 per hour

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. Occasional domestic travel is required. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
