Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive and fill telephone orders for parts.
- Determine replacement parts required, according to inspections of old parts, customer requests, or customers' descriptions of malfunctions.
- Fill customer orders from stock and requisition items that are out of stock.
- Prepare sales slips or sales contracts.
- Assist customers, such as responding to customer complaints and updating them about back-ordered parts.
- Discuss use and features of various parts, based on knowledge of machines or equipment.
- Maintain and clean work and inventory areas.
- Manage shipments by researching shipping methods or costs and tracking packages.
- Advise customers on substitution or modification of parts when identical replacements are not available.
- Verify current account status and check credit ratings.
- Distribute documents for processing resulting from parts sales.
- Assemble materials for instruction manuals.
- Perform other related duties.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, detailed correspondence and memos.
- Ability to write detailed correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, vendors and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to calculate and interpret financial measures such as percentages, margins, ratios and other comparative statistics.
- Must be able to interpret graphs and other visual representations used to present data.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

- Must be able to read and understand various service manuals, electrical diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
- Must be able to read and understand the Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co., Inc. Employee Handbook, safety plans/programs, safety training materials and SDS sheets.
