Parsons Scholars - Course Assistant

About the role

Parsons Scholars, founded in 1997, provides NYC financially eligible high school students with a 2.5‑year art and design scholarship. We are seeking course assistants to support the Unfathomable Futures and Space & Materiality courses in fall 2026, and the Drawing & Imaging, Integrative Studio I, and Integrative Seminar I courses in spring 2027. Courses meet on Saturdays. This role is combined with the Parsons Scholars Student Assistant Specialist position for a total estimated 10 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Attend class sessions
• Make photocopies and prepare materials
• Demonstrate use of equipment
• Proctor exams
• Collect assignments
• Assist with classroom set‑up
• Upload course content online
• Track students’ participation online
• Assist students having difficulty with the online environment
• Grade student work

Qualifications

Minimum

• Matriculated undergraduate student
• Federal Work‑Study eligible
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Interest in art and design education
• Interest in equity and access in art and design

Preferred

• Experience working with high school students
• Bilingual fluency in Spanish and/or Mandarin

Work mode

On‑campus position — employees are expected to work on campus during regularly scheduled hours due to the nature of the work.

Pay

Hourly rate: $25.13

Schedule

• Fall 2026: Saturdays, August 29 – December 12, 2026
• Spring 2027: Saturdays, January 23 – May 8, 2027
• Estimated 10 hours per week (combined with Student Assistant Specialist role)
