About the role
The Michigan Department of Corrections is seeking a Parole/Probation Officer to assist in managing offenders and helping them transition back into society.
Responsibilities
- Prepare background reports on offenders convicted in Circuit Court for sentencing purposes.
- Supervise offenders on community supervision through Court ordered probation or parole.
- Manage a caseload of offenders, including sex offenders, offenders on GPS, and other specialized caseloads.
- Act as an embedded agent, Institutional Parole Agent, or Internet Crimes Against Children Agent (ICAC).
- Follow department policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Work unsupervised with probationers and parolees, requiring drug/alcohol testing.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, correctional administration, or related field.
- Experience: At least 9 years of professional experience working with adult offenders, with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Additional Requirements: Excellent communication and investigative skills, computer proficiency, ability to handle stressful and hazardous situations, and valid driver's license.

- Knowledge of criminal justice systems and offender management.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Pay

Schedule
