Parole Probation Officer-E (9-P11)

About the role

The Michigan Department of Corrections is seeking a Parole/Probation Officer to assist in managing offenders and helping them transition back into society.

Responsibilities

• Prepare background reports on offenders convicted in Circuit Court for sentencing purposes.
• Supervise offenders on community supervision through Court ordered probation or parole.
• Manage a caseload of offenders, including sex offenders, offenders on GPS, and other specialized caseloads.
• Act as an embedded agent, Institutional Parole Agent, or Internet Crimes Against Children Agent (ICAC).
• Follow department policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Work unsupervised with probationers and parolees, requiring drug/alcohol testing.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, correctional administration, or related field.
• Experience: At least 9 years of professional experience working with adult offenders, with increasing levels of responsibility.
• Additional Requirements: Excellent communication and investigative skills, computer proficiency, ability to handle stressful and hazardous situations, and valid driver's license.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Pay

Salary range for this position is determined by the level of experience and qualifications.

Schedule

This position may offer a hybrid schedule up to 50% of the time.
