Parks & Recreation After School Program Assistant- Part Time

About the role

The City of Tolleson Parks and Recreation Department seeks a Part-Time Recreation Aide to support their After-School Program for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade. This role assists in planning and leading recreational activities, supervising youth, and maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and leading recreational activities
• Supervise youth participants
• Maintain a safe and supportive atmosphere
• Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
• Engage effectively with children and families
• Lift and move recreational equipment and supplies up to 25 lbs

Requirements

• Valid Arizona Class D Driver's License and Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card Level 1 required upon hire
• Available to work afternoons starting after 3 PM, as well as nights and weekends
• High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution
• Prior experience working with youth in grades K-6 in recreational, educational, or community-based settings
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• First Aid and CPR certification preferred, or willing to obtain upon hire

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions
• Physical demands include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions
• Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
