Job Objective

To perform various tree and shrub maintenance, planting, and removal activities for the Department of Parks and Recreation. This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

Minimum Qualifications

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of eighth (8th) grade, one (1) year of experience in tree maintenance, landscaping, or a related area, to have included aerial experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Additional Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
  • Must possess a valid Arkansas Class B (Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License with Air Brakes endorsement within ninety (90) days of employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.

Other Provided Insurance

  • Life Insurance – Basic Life Benefit is 2x your salary. Mid Managers and above is 3x your salary. The premium is 100% paid by the employer and is effective your hire date.
  • Accidental Death & Dismemberment – The AD&D benefit is 1x your annual salary rounded to the next thousand of coverage.
  • Long Term Disability – 60% of salary continuance after 6-month elimination period.

Retirement Pension

  • All full time, non-uniform employees shall be required to participate immediately upon employment in the 2014 Defined Benefit Plan.
  • Contributions are mandatory for both the employee and the City. Contribution rates are: Employee 4.5% of salary; Employer 9% of salary.

Longevity Pay

  • Paid at a rate of $4.00 for each year of service up to and including the fifth (5th) year.
  • Paid at a rate of $7.00 per year for the sixth (6th) year of service and each additional year thereafter.

Leave

  • Vacation Leave: Up to 3 years of service – 10 days annual accrual; 3 to 10 years of service – 15 days; 10 to 20 years of service – 19 days; 20 years of service and over – 23 days.
  • Sick Leave: 12 days on an annual basis.
  • Funeral Leave: 3 days for an immediate family member (immediate family is defined as mother, father, stepmother, stepfather, brother, sister, son, daughter, grandparents, grandchildren, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, spouse, or spouse's immediate family); 4 days for an immediate family member if the funeral is out-of-state.
