The City of Leawood is hiring to help maintain the beauty and functionality of our local parks and green spaces. Previous park maintenance experience is helpful but not required. We are prepared to train someone with the right attitude, work ethic, and commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general grounds maintenance to keep outdoor areas clean, safe, and well-kept
  • Operate landscaping tools and equipment safely and effectively
  • Assist with minor repairs or upkeep of outdoor facilities and walkways
  • Plant flowers, shrubs, and seasonal vegetation
  • Prune trees, shrubs, and other vegetation to maintain healthy growth and appearance
  • Weed flower beds, garden areas, and landscaped areas
  • Water plants, lawns, and other vegetation as needed

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record

Preferred, but not required:

  • Experience in parks, landscaping, or grounds maintenance
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brakes and tanker endorsements

Schedule

  • Typical schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
  • Employees may be required to work evenings and/or weekends during peak periods, emergency operations, and other events
  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions

This is a physically active, hands-on role with a team that relies on each other every day.

Pay

  • Starting Rate of Pay: $22.06 - $25.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
