Starting at $30.2548/hr. Pay increases every twelve months and annually on July 1st.

About the role
Under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Superintendent, the Parks Maintenance Mechanic maintains a safe and attractive park system. This position may assist the Park Superintendent and is authorized to assign duties to all part-time park staff. The Parks and Recreation Division ensures clean, safe, and welcoming parks while providing high-quality services that enhance the community’s quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and line athletic fields
- Inspect playgrounds, park equipment, and other amenities
- Operate landscaping and snow removal equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on tools and mechanical systems
- Support departmental special events
- Respond to emergency maintenance needs after hours as necessary
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Three years of experience in a municipal parks and recreation setting, with a minimum of 1 year in park maintenance and repair
- Working knowledge of landscaping, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry trades
- Valid unrestricted Michigan Driver's License with a good driving record
- MDARD Certified Pesticide Applicator or ability to acquire within 6 months
