The City of Moorhead is offering a variety of seasonal part-time and full-time temporary positions in the Parks and Recreation Department. Applicants may pair multiple positions to increase hours.

• After School Leader: $16.00–$18.00/hour
• Art Assistant: $14.50–$16.50/hour

Schedule

• After School Leader: 2:45 pm–5:45 pm, Monday to Friday (September–December)
• Art Assistant: Various Tuesdays and Thursdays (October–May)
• Art Coordinator: Various Tuesdays and Thursdays (October–May)
• Figure Skating Assistant: Mondays 7:00 pm–9:00 pm and/or Saturdays 8:30 am–12:30 pm (October–February)
• Figure Skating Assistant Coordinator: Mondays 7:00 pm–9:00 pm and/or Saturdays 8:30 am–12:30 pm (October–February)
• Figure Skating Instructor: Mondays 7:00 pm–9:00 pm and/or Saturdays 8:30 am–12:30 pm (October–February)
• Lifeguard: Saturdays 8:15 am–12:15 pm (September–November, January–February), Wednesdays 6:45 pm–8:00 pm
• Mini Basketball Instructor: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays 4:30 pm–7:30 pm (January–February)
• Neighborhood Recreation Center Attendant: Hours vary based on scheduled rentals (September–April)
• Preschool Assistant: Saturdays 9:30 am–11:45 am (September–November)
• Preschool Leader: Saturdays 9:30 am–11:45 am (September–November)
• Recreation Assistant: Dates and times vary based on program schedule (September–April)
• Recreation Leader: Dates and times vary based on program schedule (September–April)
• Recreation Facility Attendant (Baseball, Football, Open Gym): Mostly evening and weekend shifts
• Ski Attendant: Saturdays 10:00 am–4:30 pm and Sundays Noon–4:30 pm (December–February)
• Special Events Assistant I & II: Dates and times vary with each event (year-round)
• Sports Sampler Instructor: Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30 pm–7:00 pm (October–November)
• Sports Sampler Coordinator: Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30 pm–7:00 pm (October–November)
• Swim Lesson Assistant: Saturdays 8:15 am–10:45 am (September–November)
• Swim Instructor: Saturdays 8:15 am–12:15 pm (September–November)
• Youth Basketball Coordinator: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays 4:30 pm–7:30 pm (January–February)
• Youth Flag Football Assistant: Weeknight evenings (August–September)
• Youth Flag Football Coordinator: Weeknight evenings (August–September)
• Youth Flag Football Official (Referee): Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings (mid-August–September), games are 1 hour in length, up to 2 games per night
• Youth Volleyball Coordinator: Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30 pm–7:30 pm (September–October)
• Youth Volleyball Instructor: Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30 pm–7:30 pm (September–October)
• Warming House Attendant: Weekdays 4:00 pm–8:00 pm and weekends 1:00 pm–8:00 pm (mid-December–February)

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• After School Leader
  • Plan and lead activities, interact with children and families, and create a fun and safe environment.
  • Experience working with school-aged children and ability to be a positive role model.
  • Must be age 15 or older.
• Art Assistant
  • Assist the instructor with art activities and supervise participants.
  • Strong communication skills, interest in art, and experience working with youth required.
  • Must be age 14 or older.
• Art Coordinator
  • Develop and implement art classes for youth, demonstrate and assist with different techniques and media.
  • Strong leadership skills required; previous teaching experience preferred.
  • Must be age 18 or older.
• Figure Skating Assistant
  • Prior USFS/ISI skating background required.
  • Must be age 16 or older.
• Figure Skating Assistant Coordinator
  • 5 to 10 years of teaching experience and prior USFS/ISI skating background required.
  • Must be age 18 or older.
• Figure Skating Instructor
  • Prior USFS/ISI skating background and teaching experience required.
  • Must be age 18 or older.
• Lifeguard
  • Monitor patrons, enforce safety rules, and respond to emergencies.
  • Must remain calm under pressure, possess strong communication skills, and have a professional attitude.
  • Current Lifeguard Certification required.
  • Must be age 15 or older.
• Mini Basketball Instructor
  • Teach basic basketball skills, fundamentals, and rules to young children.
  • Good basketball knowledge and desire to work with young children required.
  • Must be age 16 or older.
• Neighborhood Recreation Center Attendant
  • Open and close recreation centers, clean facility, and assist patrons.
  • Dependability is a must.
  • Must be age 15 or older.
• Preschool Assistant
  • Assist Preschool Leader with supervising participants
