About the role
This is an hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2027, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine the actual termination date.
Responsibilities
- Lead small groups of lower-level seasonal staff.
- Maintain grounds, roadways, waterways, and trails, including cutting grass, removing dead branches and debris, and picking up litter.
- Perform simple maintenance tasks such as fixing or replacing shelves, unclogging toilets and sinks, replacing faucets and washers, and interior/exterior painting.
- Assist with other maintenance projects consistent with operations duties.
- Clean restrooms and comfort stations.
- Assist with dock maintenance and other tasks on the Lake George Islands.
- Communicate effectively with the public and accept direction from supervisors.
- Work assigned shifts punctually, dressed in appropriate attire, including safety-toe work shoes.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age (preference given to candidates 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license).
- Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position (use of a state vehicle is required).
- Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and work in remote areas.
- Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required.
- Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
- Must have certification to operate motorized boats or personal watercraft at the time of appointment.
