Parks and Rec Coach

Non-exempt position with no benefits and not eligible for the Virginia Retirement System (VRS).

About the Role

Coaches, organizes, and supervises a middle school sports team. Sports include Basketball, Cross Country, Flag Football, Soccer, Track, and Volleyball.

Responsibilities

• Teach sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic, personal responsibility, and competitiveness to all students.
• Instruct students on the specific sport, including teaching skills, running drills, scrimmages, and games.
• Organize and prepare practice schedules.
• Develop and maintain discipline that emphasizes teamwork and good sportsmanship.
• Supervise students constantly and maintain communication with parents.

Requirements

• Ability to organize, promote, lead, supervise, and teach recreational sports to middle school students.
• Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relations with students, parents, and the community.
• Knowledge of the principles of individual and team fundamentals of the listed sports.
• Dependability, initiative, and resourcefulness.

Physical Conditions

• Frequent walking and standing.
• Some lifting and carrying of objects of moderate weight (12-20 lbs.).
• Daily participation in leading practices and games for middle school students.

Pay

Coaching stipend.
