Parking Engineer

The Parking Management, Facilities, and Capital Projects Unit oversees the management and operation of the City’s municipal parking infrastructure, including 8 multi-level parking garages and 30 municipal parking fields. The unit supports the planning, design, maintenance, and inspection of these facilities, conducting structural and general condition inspections, monitoring maintenance and capital improvement needs, and assisting with sustainability projects.

• Conduct structural and general condition inspections of parking garages, parking fields, and related infrastructure.

• Monitor and assess the condition of parking structures to support ongoing operations and capital planning.
• Assist in identifying maintenance, repair, and capital improvement needs.
• Conduct studies and analyses related to parking occupancy, utilization, revenue, operational performance, and customer demand.
• Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, shop drawings, and contractor submittals.
• Aid in the administration and oversight of facility management and maintenance contracts.
• Maintain contractor compliance with contract specifications and performance requirements.
• Prepare technical specifications, requests for proposals, bid documents, and engineering cost estimates.
• Prepare AutoCAD drawings, site plans, sketches, and engineering exhibits.
• Aid in the design and layout of parking facilities, pavement markings, traffic control devices, wayfinding systems, and signage.
• Aid in the planning, design, and implementation of sustainability projects, including electric vehicle charging infrastructure, solar photovoltaic systems, and energy efficiency initiatives.
• Review construction plans, electrical layouts, technical specifications, and contractor proposals for sustainability projects.
• Monitor the operations of EV chargers to ensure performance and user accessibility.
• Coordinate with other units, contractors, and/or other agencies.
• Perform related work to support the safety and continued operation of municipal parking facilities.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Master's degree from an accredited college in civil engineering.

Preferred Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with civil/structural design software.
• Strong foundation in civil and structural engineering principles.
• Knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, and city/state construction standards.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills for report writing and stakeholder coordination.
• Experience or interest in sustainability and transportation infrastructure.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Additional Information

• The position is eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program agreed to between the City and DC37.

• The starting salary range for this position is $66,330.00 – $99,528.00.
