Examples of Duties
- issue parking citations to violators of the California Vehicle Code and City of Lakewood Municipal Code and other city policies pertaining to parking
- enforce violations on disabled parking, street sweeping and 72-hour parking
- respond to resident complaints concerning abandoned vehicles, expired registration, and vehicles parked blocking sidewalks, alleys and driveways
- arrange for towing or impounding of vehicles for 72-hour parking violation and expired registration
- maintain activity logs
- promote pleasant demeanor and effectively communicate with residents and colleagues
- interact with the public in a professional manner
- perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Graduation from High School, or equivalent
- One year of parking control experience is desirable
- Possession of a valid Class "C" California Operator's License issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles and a good driving record are required
- A current Driving Record printout from the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) must be submitted along with application

- prepare concise, accurate written and oral reports
- safely operate a motor vehicle
- operate hand-held computerized ticketing devices
- communicate effectively orally and in writing
- establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work

- Ability to see and hear within normal ranges
- grasping and dexterity to operate hand-held ticketing devices
