Parking Cashier

Responsibilities
- Treat each customer with respect and kindness, ensuring every interaction delivers on the SP+ Promise of making every moment matter.
- Be at work every scheduled day, on time and in uniform, ready to assist customers.
- Count the “bank” of revenue at the beginning of shift to ensure the starting total is correct.
- Collect cash and/or validations while maintaining security of cash.
- Make change and issue receipts or tickets to customers for each transaction.
- Compute or re-compute bills from tickets showing the amount due per customer.
- Operate a cash register (manually or by machine), calculate transaction costs, and display the amount to the customer.
- Quote prices for parking services upon customer receipt.
- Provide directions to city locations and assist customers to ensure they reach their destinations easily and efficiently.
- Complete lost ticket forms when original tickets cannot be located.
- Resolve customer complaints quickly and efficiently; ask a supervisor for assistance when needed.
- Answer the telephone promptly and courteously.
- Maintain cleanliness of the booth and pick up trash in the surrounding area.
- Conduct timely checks to ensure proper inventory of necessary work aids and supplies in the booth.
- Verify the log of shift transactions against the bank of “revenue” on hand.
- Compile the “bank” of collected revenue during the day once a predetermined amount of money has been collected.
- Record amounts received, cars in/out of the facility, and cars left in the facility (if applicable) while preparing the shift report of transactions.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Less than high school education or up to one month of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Availability to work special shifts, including 2nd shift, 3rd shift, and/or weekends, depending on location hiring needs.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license with a current address and acceptable driving record (required only if driving a company vehicle or on company business).
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to make change.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, supervisors, and other employees.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but standard written or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to use a clock (standard/military time), calculator (optional), or credit card machine to handle transactions.
- Ability to maintain a pleasant and mannerly demeanor when speaking on the telephone and with the public.
- Ability to effectively respond to customer problems or complaints.
