General Description
This posting is for the fulfillment of a Park Maintenance Technician I or a Park Maintenance Technician II position. The position will be filled contingent on the selected candidates' work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and qualifications.
About the Role
Park Maintenance Technicians are classified as "Essential Personnel" and may be occasionally required to work extended shifts, nights, weekends, and/or during emergency weather events.
Responsibilities
- Park Maintenance Technician I:
- Performs routine maintenance of parks, athletic fields, and amenities (e.g., pavilions, playgrounds, hardscapes), including mowing, trimming, litter/debris removal, and basic landscaping.
- Operates light motorized equipment and vehicles (e.g., mowers, small tractors, field groomers, chippers) and tows trailers as needed for park and facility operations.
- Uses hand and power tools to support park maintenance, minor repairs, and basic construction tasks (e.g., carpentry support, painting, simple fixture/amenity repairs).
- Conducts routine operator care of assigned equipment and vehicles using checklists (e.g., fueling, greasing, cleaning, basic preventive maintenance checks) and reports maintenance concerns.
- Affords support for snow removal operations at County-maintained sites and participates in countywide emergency response/storm cleanup as assigned (Essential Personnel).
- Supports tourism, recreation, and athletic events, including basic event setup, staging, and post-event cleanup.
