Park and Rec Aide 1 - 5 (Caleb Smith_ Long Island)
Duties
This is a full-time, seasonal park maintenance position that assists the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) in maintaining the park grounds, buildings, structures, and safety within the park.
- Perform building and grounds upkeep, landscaping, litter control, snow and ice removal, restroom and facility cleanliness
- Assist in basic carpentry including repairing docks, walkways, steps and erosion control
- Operate light trucks and UTV’s
- Assist chainsaw operators with all aspects of tree removal
- Assist in building and repairing paths, trails, benches, and park equipment
- Issue fishing permits, collect park revenue, provide basic information and assistance to park visitors
- Maintain fishing areas including platforms, foot bridges, and plant overgrowth.
- Assist with traffic control and parking vehicles.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
No minimum qualifications per Civil Service.
