Child and Family Services of Western Manitoba is a private, non-profit, community-based charitable agency dedicated to strengthening and supporting families, protecting children, and advancing the health and well-being of children and families in Westman.

About the role

ParentChild+ is an early literacy program designed to support parents in their role as their child's first and most important teacher. A Home Visitor is matched with a parent and their two-year-old child, visiting the family's home twice a week for half an hour. The Home Visitor brings books and toys to the home and models play and positive interaction between parent and child.

Responsibilities

• Conduct two 30-minute home visits per week with a parent and their two-year-old child.
• Bring books and toys to the home and model play-based learning and positive parent-child interactions.
• Attend a weekly volunteer meeting.
• Complete short reports following visits.
• Commit to one program year (typically October through May).

Requirements

• Enjoy being around children and want to help them succeed.
• Possess a non-judgmental attitude.
• Be flexible and adapt to a child-led play environment.
• Maintain boundaries while building strong relationships with families.
• Pass a criminal record check and child abuse registry check (costs reimbursed).
• Commit to approximately 3 hours per week, including visits, meetings, and reporting.

Skills
