Parent Advocate (Foster Care)

Summary

Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York is seeking Parent Advocates to support parents with children in foster care. This role involves building connections with parents, collaborating with case planners, and improving outcomes for children and families.

Principle Responsibilities

• Build relationships and support parents coping with foster care involvement.
• Prepare parents and participate in Family Team Conferences.
• Collaborate with Co-Parenting Facilitator and other service providers.
• Facilitate Restorative Justice Peacekeeping Circles.
• Contribute to the Reunification Collaborative.
• Encourage parents to engage in supportive interventions.
• Navigate resources and coach parents to strengthen their families.

Qualifications

• Previous life experience being impacted by the child welfare system as a parent.
• Experience as a Parent Advocate in foster care, preventive, mental health, or family defense agencies.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Good writing and computer skills.
• Passion for parent leadership and preventing child welfare involvement.
• Able to maintain confidentiality and travel extensively.
