Primary Responsibilities And Essential Functions Of Position
- Supervise and support a team of advocates, promoting professional development, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations
- Aid in managing workflow processes ensuring the Parent Advocate adhere to the 90 Day Parent Empowerment Parent (PEP) module
- Provide guidance to Parent Advocates to support parents with navigating the challenges associated with separation from their child(ren)
- Build and maintain relationships with community-based organizations, other internal and external stakeholders to enhance service delivery
- Assist with Parent Advocates case assignment for new admissions and coordinate scheduling Parent to Parent meeting
- Maintain a tracking system to ensure that Parent Advocates are documenting their interactions in connections database
- Ensure families are informed about their rights and available resources
- Support communication between parents and case planning team to promote understanding and collaboration
- Co-facilitate bi-weekly team meetings between the Case Planning team and Parent Advocates to successfully engage parents
- Conduct reviews of the Parent Advocate progress notes and provide guidance as needed
- Ensure the Parent Advocates attend and participate in critical case conferences
- Assist with creating and implementing ideas to celebrate parents, participate in hosting events and activities
- Develop and facilitate training sessions for advocates and parents/families on relevant topics
- Co-facilitates quarterly parent round table meetings and participate in stakeholder meetings
- Performs other related duties as assigned, within the scope of the role
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Associate in a related Human Services field preferred
- Lived experience as a parent impacted by child welfare (ACS or Preventive Services), case must be closed for at least 1 year required
- Travel Flexibility: Ability to travel within all 5 NYC boroughs and willingness to travel outside of the five boroughs
- Willingness and demonstrated capacity to teach, train, and effectively manage/lead two worksites
- Ability to meet deadlines, deescalate and manage crisis
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook/Office, and preferably knowledge with Connections
- Preferrable familiarity with OCFS/ACS regulations, & Family Court
- Good strategic/critical thinking skills, writing, organizational, leadership skills, and written/verbal communication skills, with keen attention to detail
- Integrity, driven, and willingness to work with children, youth, families, and team-oriented setting
- Able to create and maintain appropriate professional boundaries
