Paratransit Bus Operator
About the role
We are currently on the lookout for experienced Bus Drivers to join our elite team in San Rafael, CA. As a key member, you will be entrusted with ensuring safe and comfortable transportation for our passengers, while upholding the highest standards of safety, professionalism and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Safety-Focused Operations: Execute flawless operations by meticulously following designated routes and schedules, while adhering to stringent safety protocols and traffic regulations.
- Greet passengers, accept fare payment and maintain a safe environment.
- Passenger Care: Exhibit exceptional care and assistance towards passengers, ensuring smooth boarding, comfortable rides, and timely disembarkation for all.
- Provides door-to-door transportation services for disabled and seniors.
- Vehicle Vigilance: Champion vehicle safety through comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip inspections, promptly reporting any maintenance issues and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety equipment readiness.
- Promptly report all incidents, accidents and mechanical concerns.
- Adherence to Protocols: Uphold company policies and procedures rigorously, encompassing seat belt enforcement, emergency response preparedness, and compliance with regulatory mandates.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- At least 21 years old with a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- A valid California driver’s license in good standing with the ability to obtain a CDL permit.
- Minimum 3 years of driving experience (personal or professional).
- Excellent communication & customer service skills.
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
- Punctual with an emphasis on attendance.

- Vacation: One (1) week during first year of employment, up to four (4) weeks per year after ten (10) years.

Physical Requirements
- Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
- Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces.
- Push and pull objects up to 25lbs. occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level.
- Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
