Paraprofessional - Transportation - 1:1

Reports to Director of Transportation; Non‑exempt classified position per ORC 3319.081.

About the role

To support the instructional program and assist certified staff in providing a safe, supportive, and effective learning environment for students in compliance with district policy and applicable federal and state regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Educational Aide Permit issued by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce pursuant to ORC 3319.226.
• Successful BCI/FBI background check pursuant to ORC 3319.39.
• Meet applicable federal requirements under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families.

Responsibilities

• Student supervision and safety in library, classroom, or transportation settings.
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA.
• Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the position.
• Assist the bus driver in maintaining safe student conduct.
• Provide support to students with special needs during transport.
• Complete behavior reports as necessary.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and assisting students.
• Possible lifting and physical support of students.
• Exposure to student illness or bodily fluids.
• May require bus duty or outdoor supervision.
