About the role
This position involves the maintenance, repair, and modification of traffic signal control equipment, including controllers, coordinators, load switches, detectors, signal monitors, and flashers. Duties also include troubleshooting and designing electronic circuits to meet traffic control needs.
Responsibilities
- Test, repair, modify, and install solid state computerized and electro-mechanical traffic signal control equipment
- Inspect electrical and electronic work on contracted traffic signal installation projects
- Design and modify electronic and electrical circuits to meet varying traffic control requirements
- Test and replace faulty electronic modules within traffic signal controllers or other electronic equipment
- Read and interpret plans, blueprints, manufacturer's specifications, and diagrams of electrical/electronic circuits and prepare reports
Requirements
- Two years of work experience which demonstrates the possession of knowledge of electricity and electronic principles and theories; tools, instruments, and materials used in electrical and electronic work; electrical and electronic work hazards and safety practices; and ability to use electronic and electrical test instruments to test and replace faulty electronic modules; and read and interpret plans, blueprints, manufacturer's specifications, and diagrams of electrical/electronic circuits and prepare reports.
- One year of work experience which demonstrated possession of knowledge of electrical and electronic principles and theories as they apply to the repair of minicomputers and electronic components such as oscillating, multivibrator, pulse, memory and integrated circuits and ability to read, understand, and prepare plans and schematic diagrams of applicable electrical and electronic circuits and test and repair or testing and construct printed circuit assemblies.
Qualifications
The minimum qualifications for this position include meeting all the requirements for the position as of the date of the application, unless otherwise specified. Applicants must possess a current journeyman electrician's or journeyman specialty electrician's license. A valid driver's license is required.
