About the Role
Supports instruction to all students, reinforcing the certified teacher's lessons, and provides support to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment. Assists with planning, preparation, and administrative tasks, while also helping students individually or in groups with lesson assignments.
Responsibilities
- Assists the teacher in planning and preparation for daily activities.
- Aids instructional efforts of the teacher.
- Assists students with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
- Plans and administers remedial lessons as directed by the certified teacher.
- Provides specialized attendant services as required by the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and as directed by the teacher.
- Performs administrative support and assistance for teaching staff, including document preparation, photocopying, filing, and distribution.
- Assists in implementing policies and rules governing student conduct.
- Provides supervision of students as directed by the teacher and/or principal.
- Operates and cares for classroom equipment used for instructional purposes.
- Organizes the physical environment to ensure a safe and supportive learning space.
- Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains ethical behavior, confidentiality, and positive relationships with parents, students, and staff.
- Serves as a positive role model for students.
- Participates in in-service training and programs as assigned.
- May transport students in district-owned vehicles when requested.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of office procedures, general office equipment, and classroom teaching aides.
- Ability to learn departmental programs, operations, and policies.
- Ability to perform complex clerical tasks.

- Ability to observe, assess, and accurately report behavior.
