Duties And Responsibilities
- Assists classroom teacher with certain instructional and routine tasks including individual and small group tutoring
- Supervises students independently
- Helps to prepare materials for the classroom
- Follows school policies in maintaining order and safety in the classroom, cafeteria, playground and on school premises
- May be reassigned to another classroom to meet the needs of the center and students
- Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent certificate.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
The position requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills and a genuine fondness for children. The position further requires sensitivity to students with disabilities. It is essential that any employee must be able to safely stand, physically lift, and transport a student weighing 30 pounds. If the student weighs more than 30 pounds, the employee will lift and transport the student with another staff person.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Typical classroom for students with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Part time position with a maximum of 29 hours weekly for a ten-month school year unless other arrangements are made with the principal to work in the summer. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday; 8:45 AM to 2:30 PM. May be required to work additional hours as needed.
