Paraprofessional - Downtown Campus

About the role

Responsibilities

• Participates in lesson planning sessions and communicates with parents and school officials.
• Co-teaches lessons under teacher guidance, leading small groups or individual instruction, and reviewing classwork.
• Organizes the classroom and teaching materials, monitors lessons, and minimizes distractions and disruptions.
• Supervises students in and out of the classroom.
• Attends to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs.
• Assists teachers and students with extracurricular activities and school functions.
• Performs clerical duties such as tracking student attendance, typing, filing, photocopying, and grading tests and homework.
• Ensures the upkeep of educational materials, equipment, and supplies.
• Tracks students' progress and prepares reports for parents.
• Aids teachers and parents in understanding the requirements and development of their children.

Requirements

• A paraprofessional associate's degree.
• A bachelor's degree in child development or a related field may be advantageous.
• Experience working with children and special needs students.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with educational software.

Physical Requirements

• Able to navigate all areas of the school quickly, including indoor and outdoor areas.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
