About the role

Responsibilities
- Participates in lesson planning sessions and communicates with parents and school officials.
- Co-teaches lessons under teacher guidance, leading small groups or individual instruction, and reviewing classwork.
- Organizes the classroom and teaching materials, monitors lessons, and minimizes distractions and disruptions.
- Supervises students in and out of the classroom.
- Attends to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs.
- Assists teachers and students with extracurricular activities and school functions.
- Performs clerical duties such as tracking student attendance, typing, filing, photocopying, and grading tests and homework.
- Ensures the upkeep of educational materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Tracks students' progress and prepares reports for parents.
- Aids teachers and parents in understanding the requirements and development of their children.
Requirements
- A paraprofessional associate's degree.
- A bachelor's degree in child development or a related field may be advantageous.
- Experience working with children and special needs students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with educational software.
Physical Requirements
- Able to navigate all areas of the school quickly, including indoor and outdoor areas.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
