About the role
The Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing charter schools serving primarily low-income communities. We prepare students for college, careers, and life through rigorous academic programs and a supportive, inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
- Support lead teachers in delivering instruction by assisting with lesson activities, classroom management, and classroom transitions.
- Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce skills, reteach concepts, and support individualized learning plans.
- Absorb and substitute for lead teachers as needed to ensure instructional continuity.
- Prepare instructional materials, organize classroom resources, and assist with grading or documentation as directed.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent and successful completion of the paraprofessional exam, OR an Associate's degree (or higher).
- Previous experience working with children in an educational, childcare, or youth-focused setting.
Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
