Paraprofessional, At Risk Youth

Provides individualized support to help students overcome barriers, strengthen school connection, and achieve their academic and completion goals. Build partnerships with students, caregivers, and school personnel to coordinate interventions, track progress, and connect students with appropriate resources and opportunities.

School Design Overview

At Academy High School (9-12), students are supported in developing powerful problem-solving and critical-thinking skills through coursework that exposes them to challenging engineering and biomedical courses. Students work to master core subjects with an emphasis on science, technology, math, and engineering, gaining technical skills they may apply in the real world. Academy High School also offers a Health Sciences Pathway as a part of the District's CTE program. The Academy CTE Health Sciences Pathway provides biology and anatomy foundational knowledge to support students interested in earning industry credentials in several career pathways including nurse practitioner positions, dental hygienist positions, and physical therapy aid positions.

Responsibilities

• Identify students demonstrating early warning signs of disengagement, not being successful in course, or not being on track for graduation.
• Meet with students on a weekly basis and conduct outreach (home visits, telephone calls, personal greetings, emails).
• Participate in MTSS processes.
• Participate in professional development and staff meetings.
• Work closely with families of at-risk students to increase parent communication and engage parent community in ways to support students who are disengaged or struggling.
• Progress monitor and collect attendance and grading data for at-risk students.
• Identify out-of-school youth through Infinite Campus. Collaborate with school secretary, MTSS team, and school administration. Work to connect and explore options to re-engage these students in educational programming which will allow them to complete high school.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Student Support Services or School Directors.

Requirements

• AA Degree or pass District Assessment.
• May require training in computers or bilingual education, languages, and/or cultures.
• At least 2 years' experience working with children and youth in a school setting preferred. Applicants with extensive experience working with children and youth in other settings will be considered.
• Experience implementing prevention programs with children, youth, and families preferred.
• Experience with computers, computer software, email, and internet required.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to operate microcomputer and peripherals.
• Knowledge of Windows operating system and Windows-based office software.
• First Aid and CPR certifications required.

Pay

$18.26 - $39.33 per hour (C10 Ranges)
