Paraprofessional

About the role

The Day Habilitation program at People, Incorporated is seeking a full-time, 40 hours per week, Paraprofessional to support individuals with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Follow the daily schedule as written by the Program Director or Coordinator.
• Complete daily data sheets, including documentation for behavior services.
• Implement service plan goals as requested.
• Inform the supervisor or nursing staff of any unusual behavior, signs of illness or injury.
• Ensure individuals are actively engaged in assigned activities.
• Ensure all protocols are followed to include but not limited to: toileting, dining, dietary, PICA (persistent ingestion of nonnutritive substances), behavior guidelines, seizures and safety.
• Ensure positive behavior supports are implemented for all individuals.
• Maintain all program required trainings.

Qualifications

• Knowledge obtained through attainment of high school diploma/GED preferred.
• One year of experience in a healthcare setting or working with individuals with a mental health or developmental disability preferred but not required.
• Ability to escort, assist, and/or transport program participants.
• Ability to work with mental health and/or developmentally disabled individuals.
• Ability to assist and/or support individuals as needed and in emergencies that require full physical assistance.
• Ability to physically restrain individuals exhibiting unsafe behavior.
• Ability to follow policies, procedures, and directions.
• Ability to work and communicate with others.

Pay

Pay: $18.00 / HOUR ($18.50 after one year.)

Schedule

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm
