About the role
Damar is a mission-driven organization providing behavioral health and I/DD services since 1967. The Behavior Support role involves working one-on-one with students, fostering their growth academically, socially, and behaviorally.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support and supervision for your assigned student.
- Avoid and manage crises when necessary.
- Encourage positive social interactions and appropriate behaviors.
- Support students' academic, social, and emotional development.
- Help students reach their full potential in a safe, supportive learning environment.
Requirements
- At least 21 years old to work in the Children's Residential program.
- Valid Indiana driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Clear of felony convictions and substantiated charges of neglect.
- Successfully complete a pre-employment physical.
Qualifications
- Pass a background screening.
Skills
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to manage crisis situations.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques.
- Experience with verbal and physical interventions.
