Paraprofessional

Position Overview

The Classroom Paraprofessional provides in-classroom support for all students in an inclusive learning environment. They offer compassionate, patient, and resilient assistance for students with moderate to intensive special needs, facilitate communication, and collaborate with the Director of Student Support, homeroom teacher, and school leadership to ensure student success.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Utilize multisensory and adaptive strategies to keep students engaged, motivated, and included in the general education setting.
• Support students in achieving academic and developmental goals in the least restrictive environment.
• Aid in facilitating student communication using appropriate tools and strategies.
• Collaborate and consult regularly with the Director of Student Support to ensure effective service delivery.
• Follow a structured daily schedule to provide consistent and effective support.
• Build strong, positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and staff.
• Assist in preparing and maintaining a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Help modify instructional materials to meet individual student needs.
• Provide caregiving and physical support, including assisting with mobility and personal care as needed.
• Monitor student behavior and support a focused, respectful classroom environment.
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by school leadership.

Qualifications And Requirements

• Prior experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is preferred.
• Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and a caring, encouraging disposition.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn specialized communication methods.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, specialists, and school leadership.
• Dependable, punctual, and professional.
• Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
• Ability to assist with physical tasks, including lifting, standing, bending, and supporting student mobility.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree preferred.
• Must successfully complete a background check and Safe Environment requirements.
