About the role

Rite of Passage Team is hiring a Paraprofessional at Safe Passage in South Bend, Indiana. Safe Passage is a diagnostic and evaluation facility that helps youth aged 10 to 18 through a 30-day stay at a locked secure facility. During this time, a psychologist conducts a full diagnostic and assessment, updating diagnoses, treatment plans, and future placement options. Youth typically transition to one of three placements: back home with social services, to foster care or group homes, or to a residential facility.

Responsibilities

• Works as an active team member of the Education Department, providing instructional services to students.
• Takes direction from certified staff to deliver and assist in instruction of classes.
• Implements effective classroom management strategies.
• Conducts small group and individual instruction as necessary.
• Tracks attendance, maintains weekly grades, and ensures student grades are available and posted.

Requirements

• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a criminal background check, drug screen (no longer tests for THC for pre-employment), physical, and TB test.
• Pass a search of the child abuse central registry.
