About the role
The Paraprofessional is responsible for assisting teachers in delivering direct services to students or parents. They will coordinate instructional efforts with classroom teachers, tutor students, and assist with grading assignments.
Responsibilities
- Discuss assigned duties with classroom teacher(s)
- Prepare bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations
- Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers
- Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups
- Serve as a supervisor in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, gymnasiums, and field trips
- Distribute teaching materials and collect completed assignments
- Enforce administration policies and rules governing students
- Assist with grading various assignments under the direction of the teacher
- Organize and label materials, and display students' work
- Plan, prepare, and develop various teaching aids under the guidance of the classroom teacher
- Absent from bus dismissal
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required
Requirements
- A minimum of a high school diploma or GED with a passing score on the approved paraprofessional assessment or two (2) years of college credit or 60 sem/ 90 quarter hours with a grade of "C" or better.
- Must be organized, reliable, and possess good interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work under stress.
- Must possess the skills and abilities to professionally interact with a wide variety of people in person, in writing and by phone.
- Must possess good communication skills (written and verbal).
