Position Overview
Academies of Math and Science – Nellis Campus is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Assistant) to join our team at the Nellis Campus in Las Vegas. The Paraprofessional works closely with lead teachers and school staff to support instruction, reinforce student learning, and help maintain a structured, safe, and engaging classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers with lesson delivery, classroom activities, and instructional support.
- Work with students in small groups or one-on-one to reinforce skills and reteach concepts.
- Support differentiated instruction and individualized learning plans.
- Prepare instructional materials and assist with classroom setup and organization.
- Help maintain a structured, safe, and positive classroom environment.
- Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
- Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
- Substitute for lead teachers as needed to ensure continuity of instruction.
- Aid with grading, documentation, and administrative classroom tasks as directed.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet student needs.
- Model professionalism, respect, and high expectations in all interactions.
Required Qualifications & Competencies
- A high school diploma or equivalent and passing score on a paraprofessional exam, or an associate’s degree or higher.
- Prior experience working with children, preferably in a school or educational setting.
- Ability to successfully complete required Nevada state background checks and clearances.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual Spanish/English.
- Experience working in a Title I or high-need school environment.
