Position Overview

Academies of Math and Science – Nellis Campus is seeking a dedicated Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Assistant) to support instruction and student learning at the Nellis Campus in Las Vegas. This role plays a critical part in ensuring all scholars receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead teachers with lesson delivery, classroom activities, and instructional support.
  • Work with students in small groups or one-on-one to reinforce skills and reteach concepts.
  • Support differentiated instruction and individualized learning plans.
  • Prepare instructional materials and assist with classroom setup and organization.
  • Help maintain a structured, safe, and positive classroom environment.
  • Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
  • Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
  • Substitute for lead teachers as needed to ensure continuity of instruction.
  • Auxiliary with grading, documentation, and administrative classroom tasks as directed.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet student needs.

Required Qualifications & Competencies

  • High school diploma or equivalent and passing score on a paraprofessional exam OR Associate’s degree or higher.
  • Prior experience working with children, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Ability to successfully complete required Nevada state background checks and clearances.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred

  • Bilingual Spanish/English.
  • Experience working in a Title I or high-need school environment.
