The Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) seeks an individual who can provide interpretation and translation services for deaf and hard of hearing students. This position requires a combination of formal education and practical experience.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification(s)
  • National Association of the Deaf certification(s)

Education and Experience

  • Completion of at least 48 semester units of study at an accredited institution of higher education
  • Possession of an Associate Degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Demonstration of a rigorous standard of quality through a state or local assessment including knowledge of and the ability to assist in instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics
  • A score of 4.0 or above on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment, the Educational Sign Skills Evaluation-Interpreter and Receptive, or the National Association of the Deaf/American Consortium assessment as well as an internship in a special education class or experience interpreting/translating for deaf and hard of hearing children
