Paramedic PRN
About the Role
Join Timpanogos Regional Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, as a PRN Paramedic and contribute to important patient care alongside a detail-oriented, knowledgeable, and passionate team. This role supports both patients and caregivers in a collaborative environment where communication and compassion are key.
Responsibilities
- Maintain clear communication with attending physicians and licensed nurses regarding patient care issues.
- Assist with patient examinations or treatments and observe and report patients’ signs or symptoms.
- Take vital signs and measure and record patient input and output.
- Attach oxygen and cardiac monitors, and monitor patient cardiac rhythm.
- Perform 12-lead EKGs, document EKG strips, and suction patient airways as directed; report findings to the care team.
- Receive patients from EMS personnel and prepare them for physician care.
- Collect routine laboratory specimens and perform basic laboratory procedures as directed.
- Assist emergency department physicians with procedures, including but not limited to:
- Central line insertions
- Lumbar punctures
- Defibrillation and cardioversion
- Chest tube insertion and thoracentesis
- Arterial lines
- Suturing
- Needle chest decompressions
- Endotracheal and nasotracheal intubation
- Insertion of intraosseous lines
- Endotracheal suctioning
- Inserting Foley catheters
- Securing airways through oral/nasal airway devices
- Perform CPR, defibrillation, cardioversion, and transcutaneous pacing during emergencies.
Requirements
- Paramedic certification (required).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 7 days of employment start date.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
