About the Role

York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution offering associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. The Paramedic Instructor contributes to the College's mission by maximizing student success and supporting economic growth in York, Lancaster, and Chester counties.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching Performance:
    • Instruct courses according to approved syllabi and CoAEMSP standards.
    • Provide students with course materials (syllabus, calendar, policies).
    • Adhere to course competencies in preparing and delivering instruction.
    • Offer timely feedback to students.
    • Maintain a positive learning environment.
    • Assess, track, and evaluate student performance in the Paramedic curriculum.
    • Effectively teach live and online courses.
  • Instructional Development:
    • Develop and maintain course syllabi and curriculum.
    • Update course materials on the college's online learning platform and SharePoint site.
    • Design courses for live in-person and online training environments.
  • Student Advisement:
    • Provide academic and career guidance to students.
    • Develop and coordinate programming within the Division as assigned.
  • Instructional Management:
    • Maintain student records and documentation per accreditation standards.
    • Manage equipment and supplies for the program.
    • Ensure equipment compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
    • Perform inventory control.
    • Complete required reports and course documentation.
  • Professional Development:
    • Stay current in the teaching field.
    • Develop an annual professional development plan aligned with College goals.
    • Participate in relevant courses, seminars, and workshops.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current South Carolina Paramedic certification.
  • Current National Registry Paramedic certification.
  • Minimum of three years of Paramedic experience at the certification level to be taught.
  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain South Carolina DPH EMS instructor certification.
  • Required instructor methodology training.
  • Current CPR instructor credential.
  • Ability to perform essential functions, including demonstrating EMS skills and supporting patient simulation scenarios.
