Responsibilities

  • Conducts individualized age-specific patient/family assessments according to defined paramedic standards.
  • Initial Assessment: Collects and documents data related to patient’s individualized care.
  • Reassessment: Performs reassessment based on unit standards, protocols and changes in patient condition.
  • Utilizes assessment data to individualize patient care and transport needs.
  • Communicates changes to appropriate persons (RN, Supervisor/Charge Nurse, MD, family) as indicated.
  • Adheres to individualized patient/family plan of care to meet identified needs.
  • Initiates action to prevent current or potential risk to a patient in an emergency situation.
  • Pain assessments are evident with every vital sign, painful procedures and prn.
  • Evidence is found for reassessment of pain within 30-60 minutes.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Paramedic program
  • Minimum 1 year of ALS or hospital based paramedic experience
  • Current and Valid Nebraska Paramedic license
  • Current and valid National Registry Paramedic license
  • Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association
  • Current and valid PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 180 Days
  • Current and valid ACLS within 180 Days
  • Current and valid NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation
  • Assessment training within 180 Days
  • Triage training within 180 Days

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Emergency Medical Services or related health care field

Skills

  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure
  • Ability to perform under stressful conditions when confronted with multiple requests, demonstrating prioritizing skills
