About the role
The Transport Paramedic is responsible for assessing, triaging, treating, and evaluating patients during transport by ground. This position functions autonomously under the direction of the Medical Director and Program Director/Manager, utilizing medical protocols and advanced skills.
Responsibilities
- Function autonomously utilizing medical protocols and advanced skills under the direction of the medical director.
- Utilize clinical processes to provide comprehensive care to the patient and document that process on the patient record.
- Serve as a resource for other team members by sharing skills and clinical knowledge.
- Be effective with communication, skills, and able to work positively in a high-stress environment with patients, peers, families, and other internal/external personnel.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills as s/he is instrumental in providing community outreach and education.
- Operate all hospital-owned vehicles in accordance with local and state standards.
Qualifications
- Florida Paramedic License
- BLS from the American Heart Association
- ACLS from the American Heart Association
- PALS from the American Heart Association
- Within six months of hire or transfer: Prehospital Trauma Life Support, Advanced Medical Life Support, FEMA IS 100, FEMA IS 200, Emergency Vehicle Operations Course, UF Health Jacksonville DECON training.
- National Registry Paramedic preferred
- ACLS Instructor preferred
- PALS Instructor preferred
- PHTLS preferred
- Emergency Pediatric Care preferred
Skills
- Ability to learn and adapt to new equipment.
- Ability to work in highly stressful situations.
- Customer relations and organizational skills are essential.
- Adhere to Hospital Policy and Florida Department of Emergency Medical Services guidelines in providing patient care.
- Familiarity with Advanced Life Support patient care equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pathophysiology related to cardiac, pulmonary, renal, and neurological systems.
