Paramedic Ground Transport

Responsibilities

• Affords assessment of patient and family needs, offering appropriate medical care.
• Reports observations and medical care of the patient accurately through verbal and written means.
• Accurately documents all medical treatments provided.
• Might be assigned various administrative and/or hospital duties such as inventory and ordering supplies, squad readiness checks/testing’s and inventories, verifying ambulance and its contents are in proper working condition, maintaining familiarity with specialized equipment, etc.
• Participates in Quality Assurance/Quality Initiative processes by reviewing patient care reports as per department standards.
• Assists in providing assistance in the hospital emergency department.
• Operates at the level of certification as per protocol with medical director approval (EMT/Paramedic).
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Successful completion of EMS training from an approved training course.
• Previous EMS experience.
• Current certification at EMT-PM level is required.
• Valid Iowa driver’s license for at least three years with an acceptable or clear rating according to the Motor Vehicle Record chart.
• Two years driving experience with no record of DUI, DWI, or similar alcohol or drug related offenses over the past five years.
• No record of reckless driving, careless driving, speeding over 15 miles above the speed limit, fleeing or eluding a police officer, chemical test refusal, leaving the scene of an accident, driving after revocation or suspension, or passing a stopped school bus in the last five years.
• Current certification in PHTLS, PEARS.
• Current NREMT certification.
• Critical Care Paramedic Endorsement.
