About the role
Mercy EMS seeks individuals who are passionate about providing high-quality patient care and supporting the mission of the Sisters of Mercy. The role involves performing direct patient care, including assessments, evaluations, and transportation of patients.
Responsibilities
- Assess, evaluate, and provide basic and advanced medical rescue to patients.
- Access, stabilize, and transport patients to appropriate destinations.
- Perform clerical and maintenance duties as directed.
- Participate in ongoing training and certification programs, including Hazmat awareness, ACLS, and PALS.
- Ensure compliance with Mercy System, Sisters of Mercy philosophy, Standard of Care, and Employee Code of Conduct.
Requirements
- Licensure: Paramedic (EMT-P) license for the state of practice.
- Valid driving license.
- At least 19 years of age.
- Certifications: Hazmat awareness level training, ACLS at hire, PALS within 6 months of hire/transfer.
Qualifications
- Unimpaired mobility: Ability to respond quickly to ambulance, access patients in difficult terrain, climb stairs, and work in close and dangerous environments.
- Strenuous physical requirements: Capability to perform CPR, lift and move equipment and patients in various conditions.
- Medical skills and techniques: Proficiency in performing required medical skills and techniques.
- Vision and hearing: Correctable vision and hearing sufficient for day and night operation of emergency vehicles, determination of skin and blood color, reading medication dosages, and understanding radio traffic.
- Communication: Ability to speak and enunciate clearly in stressful situations, and to communicate with patients, families, and other emergency services personnel.
