About the role

The Paramedic position at Hackensack Meridian Health provides advanced life support services, responding to calls in a timely manner and providing quality pre-hospital care. The role requires flexibility and the ability to work in hazardous conditions and uncontrolled environments.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to calls in a timely manner.
  • Aids and supports public safety personnel and other healthcare providers in patient care.
  • Performs assessments and utilizes critical thinking to identify and prioritize medical procedures.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, parents, and caregivers, adapting care to meet diverse needs.
  • Completes thorough physical examinations and updates medical control physicians with pertinent information.
  • Maintains vehicle and equipment in a clean and functional state, ensuring safety during transport.
  • Operates communication devices professionally and cooperates with the Quality Assurance program.
  • Documents patient care reports accurately and completes daily operational tasks.
  • Ensures proper handling and disposal of medical waste and maintains supply levels.
  • Provides education and serves as a preceptor or Field Training Officer as needed.
  • Behaves professionally and maintains HMH's Code of Conduct and Standards of Behavior.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Introduction to Incident Command System (ICS-100) or higher.
  • Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic Certification or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (Paramedic) Certification.
  • BLS AHA Basic Health Care Life Support (HCP) Certification or BLS Instructor Trainer.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification or ACLS Instructor Certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification or PALS Instructor Certification.
  • Valid Driver's License from a USA state.
  • Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator within 90 days of employment.
  • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Certification or Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) Certification or Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) Certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
