About the role
We are looking for positive, self-motivated, engaged, and excited for growth individuals to join our team. The 38-bed Emergency Department at Piedmont Eastside Medical Center sees on average 160 patients a day presenting with various acuities. We are a primary stroke and STEMI receiving facility capable of intervention and administration of thrombolytics. We have two helicopter pads on campus for utilization.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate age-appropriate, culturally and ethnically sensitive care
- Maintain a safe environment
- Communicate effectively
- Utilize technology
- Assess and plan for the delivery of health care services
- Participate in patient advocacy, teaching, performance improvement, and oversight of unlicensed personnel
- Have a working knowledge of intramuscular, sublingual, oral, rectal, nebulizers, intravenous, and intravenous push medications
- Work with venous blood sampling and cardiac monitor knowledge
- Understand and assess age-appropriate and culturally aware patient needs
- Respond to direction by the Professional Registered Nurse and Physician
- Perform EKGs
- Start Foley catheters, IVs, IOs, and draw blood
- Transport patients to other departments
- Monitor patients for arrhythmias and report abnormalities immediately
Qualifications
- Must have a BLS to work in this unit
- RNs must have ACLS and PALS required. NIH highly preferred, must obtain within allotted timeframe

- Education: H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
- Work experience: 1 year of experience as a Paramedic Preferred
- Licenses and Certifications: BCLS - Basic Life Support, BLS Certification upon hire, ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support, PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support, LP - Licensed Paramedic, current certification as a Paramedic in the State of Georgia and National Registry
