About the Role

Provides emergency care in the pre-hospital environment. Delivers advanced-level medical care including evaluation, treatment, and stabilization to the ill and injured. Responds to calls for emergency medical assistance, assesses patient conditions, and determines courses of treatment. Provides first-aid treatment or life support care according to acceptable medical practice standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individualized care plans for patient presentations according to acceptable medical practice standards, issued standing orders, online medical control, and department policies.
  • Provides emergency care in the pre-hospital environment.
  • Ensures fundamental components of patient comfort, safety, privacy, and respect within the perioperative setting.
  • Identifies and develops areas of expertise within surgical specialties.
  • Conducts emergency medical classes as requested by the department manager.
  • Administers oral and intravenous medications.
  • Performs intubations, surgical airway insertions (cricothyrotomy), and places catheters for venous access such as central venous lines.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
  • Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Three years' full-time experience in a 911 system: Preferred

Qualifications

  • Paramedic license in state of practice: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association: Required
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification: Required
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification (EVOC) or equivalent: Preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License (DL) and must be at least 21 years of age or older: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required

Pay

The estimated base pay for this position is $20.86 to $28.61 per hour. Additional individual compensation may be available through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
