About the role
The Trusts & Estates team at Harris Beach Murtha is seeking a Paralegal to support attorneys with a wide range of estate planning and administration matters. The ideal candidate will have 1+ years of experience as a trusts and estates paralegal, with 3+ years preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and file court filings, estate and fiduciary accountings, and tax returns (including Forms 1041, 706, and related Connecticut forms)
- Assist with estate administration, including asset inventory, valuation, distribution, and probate documentation
- Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates, and respond to inquiries
- Organize and maintain physical and electronic files to ensure accessibility and accuracy
- Support attorneys with case management and day-to-day administrative needs
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- Experience preparing court filings, estate and fiduciary accountings, and tax returns (including Forms 1041, 706, and related Connecticut forms)
- Experience with Connecticut Probate Court filings (New York experience a plus)
- The ability to assist with estate administration, including asset tracking, funding, and beneficiary communications
- The ability to conduct legal research related to trusts, estates, tax regulations, and case law
- The ability to communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates, and respond to inquiries
- The ability to organize and maintain physical and electronic files to ensure accessibility and accuracy
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
- The ability to perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Strong organizational, analytical, and proofreading skills to ensure accuracy of legal documents
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with a client-focused approach
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with fiduciary income tax preparation and fiduciary accounting software a plus

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Schedule
The role is hybrid, requiring the employee to work 3 days per week in one of the following locations: Bantam, Hartford or Stamford, CT.
