About the role

The Office of Professional Advancement is seeking qualified part-time Program Educators for the Paralegal Studies Certificate Program. We are looking for experienced legal professionals who are passionate about teaching, mentoring, and preparing students for success in the legal field.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering engaging and interactive instruction in paralegal studies and legal practice
  • Teaching legal research, legal writing, case analysis, and procedural concepts
  • Facilitating practical learning activities, assignments, and participant assessments
  • Mentoring, guiding, and providing constructive feedback to participants
  • Maintaining current knowledge of legal trends, ethics, and professional standards
  • Supporting participant professional growth and career readiness in the legal field

Requirements

  • A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with a state bar association; Florida Bar membership preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional legal and/or teaching experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas of legal practice, such as: Civil litigation, Legal research and writing, Contract law, Family law, Real estate law, Criminal law, Probate and estate planning, Immigration law, Business law
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Preferred qualifications

  • Praising practicing attorneys and/or sitting or retired judges, with Florida legal experience strongly preferred
  • Experience teaching adult learners in professional, continuing education, or higher education settings
  • Familiarity with legal technology, legal databases, and current legal procedures

Additional requirements

  • Reliable internet access and the ability to teach remotely via Zoom
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively engage adult learners in an online learning environment

  • Final confirmation of teaching assignments may not occur until classes begin.
  • Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
