About the role

Nationwide is seeking a dedicated and experienced Paralegal Specialist to join the Trial Division. This role offers a unique opportunity to support a Fortune 100 insurance company while contributing to their mission of providing exceptional care.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and train Paralegals and/or Sr. Paralegals on organizational policies and processes
  • Support highly productive legal teams with complex litigated matters
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and filing complex motions, pleadings, discovery, and subpoenas
  • Conduct legal research and writing assignments, including preparing medical chronologies and deposition outlines
  • Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, and meetings; communicate with clients and expert witnesses
  • Provide administrative support, retrieve information from document management systems, and assemble exhibits and binders
  • Maintain confidentiality and support the overall litigation strategy
  • Perform legal assistant duties and other administrative tasks as needed

Requirements

  • Undergraduate studies in business administration, insurance, or related fields preferred
  • Certification in paralegal studies strongly preferred
  • Eight years of experience in a paralegal capacity, preferably in insurance-related litigation
  • Superior knowledge of case information and ability to understand the relevance of case information
  • Experience in filing and scheduling procedures of various courts, familiarity with federal and state e-filing and e-Court systems, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understanding of both personal and commercial lines policies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong research and organizational skills, and detail-oriented focus

  • Superior knowledge of each file assigned to trial team(s)

Pay

The national salary range for Paralegal Specialist - Trial Division is $79,500.00-$148,500.00, with an expected starting salary range of $79,500.00 - $119,500.00.

Schedule

This role offers a hybrid work schedule, with occasional travel and potential for overtime.
