Responsibilities
- Professionally greet clients and visitors.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and accurately relay messages.
- Schedule appointments and assist with client communications.
- Coordinate with courts, opposing counsel, and third parties.
- Help ensure every client receives exceptional service throughout their case.
- Prepare, draft, and proofread pleadings, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Prepare documents for filing with courts and other agencies.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical client files.
- Calendar hearings, deadlines, meetings, and appointments.
- Assist attorneys with discovery, trial preparation, and other litigation support.
- Perform electronic filing with courts.
- Organize files and legal documents.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail.
- Scan, copy, and distribute documents.
- Perform general administrative duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
- Enter billable time into the firm's timekeeping software on the same day work is performed.
- Utilize Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and the firm's case management software.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Requirements
- Prior experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, legal secretary, or in a law firm is preferred, but not required. We are willing to hire individuals with a strong work ethic, excellent organizational skills, professionalism, and a strong desire to build a successful career in the legal profession.
- Family law or litigation experience is preferred, but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- The ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new technology and software.
- A positive attitude, professionalism, dependability, and outstanding customer service skills.
- The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Paralegal certificate or similar legal training is preferred.
- Experience with legal research and document preparation.
- Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
