Paralegal/Legal Assistant/Legal Secretary (Maryville, IL)
About the role
Stange Law Firm, PC is seeking a Full-Time Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Legal Secretary to join our Maryville, Illinois office. This position plays an important role in helping attorneys provide outstanding legal representation and exceptional client service.
Responsibilities
- Professionally greet clients and visitors.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and accurately relay messages.
- Schedule appointments and assist with client communications.
- Cook up with courts, opposing counsel, and third parties.
- Help ensure every client receives exceptional service throughout their case.
- Prepare, draft, and proofread pleadings, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Prepare documents for filing with courts and other agencies.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical client files.
- Cook up hearings, deadlines, meetings, and appointments.
- Aid attorneys with discovery, trial preparation, and other litigation support.
- Perform electronic filing with courts.
- Organize files and legal documents.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail.
- Scan, copy, and distribute documents.
- Perform general administrative duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
- Enter billable time into the firm's timekeeping software on the same day work is performed.
- Utilize Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and the firm's case management software.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Requirements
- Prior experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, legal secretary, or in a law firm is preferred, but not required.

- Familial law or litigation experience is preferred, but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new technology and software.
- A positive attitude, professionalism, dependability, and outstanding customer service skills.
- The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associates or bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in a legal setting is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
