Paralegal/Legal Assistant/Legal Secretary (Chicago)
About the role
Stange Law Firm, PC is seeking a Full-Time Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Legal Secretary to join our Rolling Meadows, Illinois office, serving the greater Chicago metropolitan area.
Responsibilities
- Professionally greet clients and visitors.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and accurately relay messages.
- Schedule appointments and assist with client communications.
- Cook up with courts, opposing counsel, and third parties.
- Help ensure every client receives exceptional service throughout their case.
- Prepare, draft, and proofread pleadings, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Prepare documents for filing with courts and other agencies.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical client files.
- Cook up hearings, deadlines, meetings, and appointments.
- Aid attorneys with discovery, trial preparation, and other litigation support.
- Perform electronic filing with courts.
- Organize files and legal documents.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail.
- Scan, copy, and distribute documents.
- Perform general administrative duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
- Enter billable time into the firm's timekeeping software on the same day work is performed.
- Utilize Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and the firm's case management software.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Requirements
We are seeking motivated, organized professionals who are eager to build a long-term career in the legal profession. Successful candidates will possess prior experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, legal secretary, or in a law firm, though not required. Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to quickly learn new technology and software are essential. A positive attitude, professionalism, dependability, and outstanding customer service skills are also required. The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team is preferred.
Qualifications
Prior experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, legal secretary, or in a law firm is preferred, but not required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment are necessary. The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team is preferred.
